A new NASA video captures some of the beauty and math behind how particles spread across the globe through the atmosphere.
According to NASA, the video shows how hurricanes contributed to the spread of Saharan dust to the Gulf of Mexico and how winds carried smoke from fires on the West Coast all the way to Europe.

The graphic shows the flow of dust, sea salt and smoke in the atmosphere from July 31 to Nov. 1, NASA staff say.
The movie comes from a supercomputer simulation, thanks to NASA’s Goddard Earth Observing System.
NASA staff say research helps make future weather forecasting better.
